Abstract
This communication attemps to describe the current main debate topics concerning the Digital Television and its implementation process within the European Union. In order to achieve that aim, the main policy actions that have been carried out by the European institutions during the last years are review. In the conclusions, the main challenges that digitalization suppose are identified and possible research lines are suggested. One of the main goals of this communication is to overcome the techonological and economic bias that has characterized the analysis of digital television until now.
